TUESDAY

Wow! Mahalo for making the time to share your thoughts below.

I'll be back to see what you are thinking & how I can support you.

This wiki is such a powerful to learn this way.

Am grateful for learning in this authentic context.

Carmen, mahalo for meeting me today and helping me with my questions.

I loved the "ignite" presentation style we attended today. What do you folks think about each of us creating one of these to share with the faculty when we get back?

Am hoping that I can attend the get together @ Tana's in July and that the date dosen't conflict with training I have scheduled.

Hope you are having lots of fun while you are here!

E malama pono!

MONDAY

Mahalo to Carmen for creating this wikispace!

Mahalo to all of you for taking such great notes. I feel like I have been able to experience this conference through many lenses, and have learned a lot from what you are posting & Tweeting! It is such a fun way to collaborate and learn by doing.

Most of all mahalo to Phil & Ke Ali'i Pauahi for the privilege of being on this trip! I am learning so much and am energized by all of the possibilities. Most of all, I am grateful to you for your amazing example, generosity, and leadership all year long!

Here are some things I am wondering:

  • What top three ideas are you taking away from this conference?
    • From Kalei
      • Monday
        • 1.
        • 2.
        • 3.
      • Tuesday
        • 1. So many ways to use QR codes and I so excited to make some for science and for school events. My only concern is that if we use for school events, we would need to educate the parents how to use them. But then again, if we teach our kids, they can teach their parents.
    • From Kanani
      • Monday
      1. Duplicate model lessons learned in a session that improve thinking and research skills. Making the end product authentic to student learning.
      2. Get familiar with new apps like popplet, ithoughts, & corkulus.
      • Tuesday

  • How can I better support each of you?
  • What are the advantages of using wikis versus Google Docs to collaborate?
    • From Kalei: I am really liking using this wiki for the conference. I like how I can check out the notes from others to get more information. It's like real-time. Plus I can check what sessions others are going to and so if they are going, I don't have to go. You know, spread the knowledge and go to other sessions cause I know someone will be there. Only thing is that sometimes the formatting like bold, underline isn't user friendly. Can't use short cut keys like I would in google docs. Hard to keep up with pace if have to touch screen all the time on the iPad. But love the sharing. AND...others who are not here and check and keep update on the conference.
  • How does back channeling work? (From Kalei's post)
    • From Kalei: I think its something like twitter feeds. However, only those that have the direct link to the channeling room can post feeds. It helps those who don't want to speak outloud or interupt the speaker to post questions, comments or concerns. It's sort of like a chat room during a presentation. People can share their ideas with others in the same presenation. It's really fun, but hard if you are taking notes at the same time. But useful for discuss among the participants.

Here are some things I want to learn...

  • How to format my wiki pages for better readability (you guys rock!)
    • From Kalei: I actually copied how you had all your sessions typed and ready to go. It made it easier to have it already set up with title, room and presenter. That way I can see what others are going to and coordinate.
  • How to use Twitter better (i.e. protocols, etc.)
  • How to include pics in my Tweets
    • From Kalei: I would definitely would love to learn more about tweeting or help others with learning about it. It's really fun and I'm making a lot of networking from tweeting here at the conference. Maybe we can have some PD back at school, even during the summer. I think we're hoping to do another one in July at Tana's.
  • How to use Flickr to store my photos
  • How to get my photos on my iPad1 (no camera)
